Madidi National Park is
one of the largest and with the richest variety of flora and fauna in
Bolivia. It has 1,895,750 Ha (4,684,500 Acres), spanning from
the Andes Royal Range to the Amazon basin, with an unequaled
biodiversity. It has many and diverse habitats, from mountain
forest, to lowland savannas and tropical forest.
Sample itinerary:
DAY 1. LA PAZ / RURRENABAQUE / CHALALAN -
Madidi National Park
Flight to Rurrenabaque, a nice tropical
Amazon town in the shores of the Beni River, transfer to the port to
take a boat trip in the Beni and Tuichi Rivers to Chalalan (5-6 hours).
Walk through this rich forest to the lodge (˝ hour), lunch and time to
rest. In the afternoon you’ll have time to learn of Madidi NP and the
project of the community. Trek through the Chichilo and Mirador trails
focusing the field of construction. Dinner and trek to see the rich
night wildlife (LD)
DAY 2. CHALALAN - Madidi National Park
Trek in the
Silbador, Mutua and Anta trails to see the fruit, medicinal and exotic
plants. Lunch and time to swim in the lagoon. In the afternoon you'll
enjoy didactic games or see the bibliography of the project. Then trek
in the Wichi and Jaguar trails and focus the area of artisan plants and
also enjoy birdwatching. After dinner, traditional histories and legends
of the locals from San Jose de Uchupiamonas. (B, L, D)
DAY 3. CHALALAN - Madidi National Park
Trek the Wabucuru and Marimono trails,
focusing in ecological processes, wildlife and visit small ruins. Good
options to see wild animals then return to Chalalan. After dinner other
games related with biodiversity and memory, associate with Chalalan. (BLD)
DAY 4. CHALALAN / RURRENABAQUE / LA PAZ
Early breakfast and departure, hiking to
the port in the Tuichi River and then boat to Rurrenabaque (3 hours).
Flight to La Paz with both transfers. (B)
